preamble

The HIV/AIDS pandemic continues to be a significant global health crisis in 2023.
According to estimates from the World Health Organization (WHO), approximately 650,000 people (ranging from 510,000 to 860,000) died from HIV-related causes in 2021, and 1.5 million (ranging from 1.1 to 2.0 million) people were infected with HIV.

One of the major challenges in the fight against HIV/AIDS has been the disruption of HIV services during the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic has led to a slowdown in the public health response to HIV, which has contributed to the increased transmission of the virus.

It is more important than ever to take urgent and effective action to prevent the spread of HIV and to support those living with the virus. This includes increasing access to HIV testing and treatment, promoting safe sexual practices and drug use, and addressing social and economic factors that can contribute to the spread of HIV.

By taking these steps, we can work to reduce the impact of HIV/AIDS on individuals and communities and ultimately bring an end to the HIV/AIDS pandemic.
